Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has given a good interview to ESPN Brasil ahead of the match against Manchester City.
The Brazilian media are waiting for this game with great expectation, since it could be the debut of Gabriel Jesus, so they’ve asked the Tottenham captain what he thinks of him.
“He’s one of the most talented Brazilian players at the moment, and I think there’s no surprise,” Lloris told ESPN Brasil. “If Man City bought a player like him, it’s because he’s able to play in the Premier League, he’s able to play for Man City and he’s able to become a great player.”
Speaking of the title race, Lloris acknowledges how hard it will be to fight against Chelsea, but knows the steps that Tottenham must take if they want it.
“It’s true that Chelsea made a big gap between them and the other challengers, but I think the first step is to get us as high as possible in the table at the end of the season, and for that we need to be as consistent as possible.”
The reporter mentioned a recent quote from his national teammate Antoine Griezmann saying that Lloris rarely speaks, but when he does, the locker room stays in complete silence. The goalkeeper smiled and confirmed it.
The tottenham goalkeeper responded: “I take that like a compliment, you know. It’s quite interesting at my age, because I’m 30, and I have a lot of experience of behind me, and it helps me a lot everyday to manage my armband. Of course I’m very proud of that.”
Tottenham can’t think of losing to Manchester City tomorrow, otherwise Pep Guardiola’s side will equal them with 45 points. There’s still a long way to go for both clubs to reach Chelsea, who currently have 52.
