Galatasaray are considering signing West Ham United forward Jonathan Calleri claim Sabah. The Turkish are currently in the market for a striker and have been also linked with Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen.

Sabah have reported Galatasaray are following the Calleri situation closely and if Las Palmas are unable to sign him, then the Turkish giants will step in.

Galatasaray CEO Levent Nazifoglu spoke to ASpor and said:

”Lukas Podolski is currently unhappy in the team. He’s made his mind up about leaving for a Japanese side, so we are looking potential targets. We don’t have much time left. Transfers are twice as difficult in January. But we’ll sign a player for this position, that’s for sure.

Nazifoglu was also asked specifically about the West Ham forward and he said: ”I can’t confirm or deny anything at this stage. It’s pointless to talk about it.”

Calleri’s father has also confirmed Galatasaray interest saying:

”We’re honoured to be honest. Lots of teams interested in my son. We’ll make a decision soon.”

The 22-year old has failed to make an impact since signing for West Ham, and has yet to score in the Premier League.  Another West Ham summer signing Simone Zaza has left the club for Valencia and it seems it’s only a matter of time before Calleri’s departure from West Ham.

Las Palmas are said to be favourites to sign him, but Galatasaray are offering a different challenge.
