Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty as to what is exactly going on with Raúl Jiménez’s injury.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker had missed the last few Premier League games, but was called up to the Mexico national team, only for their manager, Tata Martino, to admit he hadn’t realised how serious the setback was.
That set alarm bells ringing, with some worrying the Wolves star could miss out on the World Cup, especially after an MRI on his pubis had ‘the Tri’s coaching staff worried’, as per TUDN.
On the flip side, you have the player’s father, Raul Jiménez Sr., going around telling Esto that his son is doing well and should be back sooner rather than later.
He said: “The intention is to be here and recover as soon as possible, but it’s a decision of the coaching staff and my club as well. I feel good. Mentally, I’m focused on rehabilitation, but physically I haven’t played. I’m doing what I have to do to get there in good shape.
“I’m happy to have come, even if it is not to play; I need this chance of scenery, it’s good to be here with my teammates. It’s different and it motivates me even more that we’re here with the same goal; I hope to be well and come back.”
That doesn’t sound like a man who is about to play in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next game, and yet he opens the door quite comfortably for a return before the World Cup.
This is something that will need to be closely monitored, as both Wolves fans and those of the Mexican national team hold their breath in unison over the striker’s fitness.
