You might have seen over the past couple a days an increase in rumours surrounding the future of Maxence Lacroix and an interest from Chelsea.
The story makes sense, since the Blues will be looking for a new centre-back this summer at the request of their manager, Thomas Tuchel, and the 21-year-old Frenchman is one of the rising stars in the position.
Excelling at Wolfsburg following his move from Sochaux, Lacroix is now on the radar of a few clubs, including Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, who are always on the lookout for the next big thing.
That being said, the defender isn’t really looking for a change this summer, as he sat down for a chat with SportBuzzer in Germany.
He said: “I see [the rumours], but I refer those matters to my advisor because I want to concentrate on my work here at Wolfsburg and want to do a good job here. I’m with VfL and qualified for the Champions League with the club. I’m very happy here.
“I still have a three-year contract here and am very satisfied. Sure, things can always happen quickly in football, but again: I feel very comfortable at VfL and there is absolutely no reason to think about other things”.
It was reported that a fee of around €30m could be enough to convince the Bundesliga side to sell their star, but it appears that even if that offer comes in, Lacroix might still reject the move.
That is, of course, Chelsea and co. prove to be extra-convincing…
Speaking of the Blues, he was also asked which teams he felt were the best in the world at the moment.
His answer? “Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, to name a few.”
