Daniel Pudil isn’t exactly having a fun time at Sheffield Wednesday right now.
Out of contract at the end of the season, the 33 year old has played since December and has been out of most match-day squads since then.
He moved to the Yorkshire club in 2016, originally on loan from Watford before completing a permanent transfer to Sheffield Wednesday.
In a lengthy interview with Czech newspaper Dnes, he hasn’t mentioned the Championship club once. That’s partly because the newspaper wanted to talk about the match tonight between Slavia Praha and Genk, with Prodil having played for the latter earlier in his career.
He did manage to tell a quick story about how he signed for Watford in 2012. It hadn’t been his plan, he signed for Granada to play for the Spanish club but the Pozzo family had others ideas, and the footballer ended up quite happy with the situation.
Speaking to Dnes, Prodil explained: “The owner of Granada at that time bought Watford and immediately called me to go to the second league to help the process. I was glad, England was my dream. I immediately said I was taking it. If I had stayed, maybe I would have played there, but I’m happy with what I’ve done.”
The left sided player appeared almost a hundred times for Watford, so it worked out quite well.
