Celtic defender Jack Hendry has hinted his future lies away from the club amid reports KV Oostende have opened talks about a permanent deal.
Hendry joined the Belgian club on loan in the summer, having fallen out of favour at Celtic under Neil Lennon.
He’s proven to be a big hit with his loan club, establishing himself as a key player for Oostende, who currently sit fourth in the table but just three points behind second-placed Royal Antwerp.
Hendry’s form has been key to them achieving that position, with this recently recognised via a return to the Scotland set-up for the upcoming international break.
Oostende are keen to keep him permanently and have an option to buy included in the loan deal, with reports in Scotland today indicating they have opened talks with Celtic over a permanent deal.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but Hendry himself has admitted he will be looking at his future come the summer.
“I am grateful to KV Oostende for the platform they have offered me,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“In this way, I showed my abilities and kickstarted my career. I, therefore want to give the club something in return for their confidence.
“I’m not going to lie: I’m ambitious and want to play at the highest possible level.
“We’ll see where that is – I won’t let it distract me. At the end of this season, I will make a decision that is best for my career.”
