Claims around Christian Eriksen and Real Madrid continue to bubble in the Spanish media.
Some of those sound like rumours pushed too far, like an agreement already being agreed, and others are of the more sensible variety, explaining the Tottenham player is one of several options and there’s no illusion at Madrid that it would be a hard task.
Marca have spoken to Martin Braithwaite for their Wednesday edition. He’s owned by Middlesbrough, but has spent the second half of the season on loan at Leganes.
After talking to him about his own experience in Spain, and his desire to stay, Madrid made sure to ask about his national teammate Eriksen.
The Spanish newspaper were told exactly what they wanted to hear about the Tottenham star: “He has quality, technique and skills to play at Real Madrid. Eriksen is a great footballer, but in Madrid not only the qualities, but also the mentality, matter. There is a lot of pressure, but he is fantastic.”
Braithwaite is also willing to help his Danish friend settle in the Spanish capital: “I’ll tell him about the good restaurants.”
Leganes is on the outskirts of Madrid, and it may be an attraction for Eriksen that he’d know someone in the area. However, Braithwaite’s own future is under even more doubt than that of the Spurs player.
His loan move doesn’t have an option and Leganes may decide to spend their relatively small budget on others.
