Wolverhampton Wanderers allowed Hugo Bueno to join Feyenoord on loan last summer.

The temporary move has seen him feature in the Champions League this season. The Dutch club overcame AC Milan in their play-off and will face Inter Milan in last 16.

The Wolves owned player assisted Feyenoord’s equaliser against Milan at the San Siro and that was crucial for them to progress further in the competition.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Inter, AS had a chat with the 22-year-old. The focus of the interview was on the club’s upcoming European tie, the Champions League season so far and the appointment of Robin van Persie as their new manager.

The Spaniard is yet to make an appearance under the Dutchman and insists this is down to the manager’s decision.

Feyenoord have no option to make his stay permanent, meaning Bueno has to return to Wolves at the end of this season. Towards the end, the newspaper quizzed him what he expects for future.

Responding to that, he said: “This loan is going great for me, especially the experience in the Champions League and competing against the best. Knowing that you can keep up with them is incredible.

“You have to live in the present, because if you don’t you will eat your head. I want to do my best and also be called up with the U21 team for the European championship, which would be a dream to play in.

“If something happens, let it be for the better. But playing in the Champions League has changed my mentality.”

Bueno’s contract with the Premier League club lasts until 2028 and a decision will have to be made on his future in the summer.
