Kevin De Bruyne’s body has ‘suffered tremendously’ over the years at Manchester City but he can still be the best for one or two years more.
That’s according to Jan Boskamp in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg, via Vandaag Inside, who says he is sick of hearing about the Manchester City midfielder’s fall off.
De Bruyne has endured another difficult campaign at the Etihad, with just 18 appearances and 1077 minutes in the Premier League this season.
He’s still managed two goals and six assists in those games but has been nowhere near the level he’s managed previously in his career.
Many believe the 33-year-old is coming to the end of his career and could be on the move in the summer when his contract comes to an end in June.
It’s been a rough few years for the midfielder in terms of injuries, as he’s suffered various knocks and struggled to come back from a thigh injury in 2023 that saw him miss 30 games for club and country.
Boskamp believes that talk of the Manchester City man’s fall off has been overblown, though, and admits he’s sick of hearing about it.
“I’m sick to death of it, man,” he said.
“But it’s not just Kev’s fault. City has been completely out of whack all season. For ten years he was the man who divided everything, but now he can’t get rid of his balls. I think his body has also suffered tremendously in those ten years.
“The Premier League is not the toughest competition in the world for nothing. Oh well, for me Kev remains a world player. Hopefully he can show that for another year or two.”
