Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez is not showing any signs of being happy he remained at the Dutch club after rejecting Nottingham Forest this summer.
That’s according to journalist Mikos Gouka, via Soccer News, who says the striker hasn’t really turned up after the Nottingham Forest saga this summer.
Giménez was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest throughout the summer window, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side seemingly determined to get him.
They made several big bids to convince Feyenoord and even sent a delegation to the Netherlands to convince the Eredivisie side.
Their efforts seemed to be working despite Feyenoord continuing to ask for as big a fee as possible for their star striker.
It was the Mexican who put an end to any transfer, though, showing an unwillingness to make the move, with it suggested that he is eyeing a move to a bigger club than Nottingham Forest after his impressive few seasons with Feyenoord.
Gouka isn’t impressed, though, and believes the striker is showing all the body language of someone who is not happy with his decision.
“There are a number of seniors, who are not showing it yet, with Santiago Giménez in the lead,” he said on Algemeen Dagblad’s football podcast.
“If you look at his matches honestly, you don’t see a striker of whom you think: he stayed happily despite the fact that they (Nottingham Forest) wanted to pay €32m. You see a striker of whom you think: if only he had said yes to that offer.
“The transfer window will haunt Feyenoord for a while. There are simply no replacements for a number of positions and what is behind them are players who may need a bit more time.
“If you want to compete with PSV, you cannot wait six months for a player who is there. That has to be a player who is behind a good player and then makes his steps. At Feyenoord, the players who need time are already playing.”
