Over the last week or so, Idrissa Gueye’s potential move to Paris Saint Germain has been nearing a conclusion.
The French champions reignited their interest from the January transfer window, with Thomas Tuchel asking for the Senegalese midfielder once again.
This summer he’s getting his wish, with Leonardo pushing hard for his signature and seemingly close to getting the transfer over the line.
Negotiations are very much in their final stages as far as most are concerned, and Le Parisien and RMC Sport have various updates on it today.
Le Parisien reports that an outline of an agreement was reached with Everton and finalised the day before yesterday. That will see the Ligue 1 side pay €32m for Gueye. RMC back that up but say the base price is €30m, plus €2m bonuses.
RMC then say that the midfielder has agreed a four-year deal with the option of a year extension and while Le Parisien say that’s been offered, they believe he’s holding out for a five-year deal outright.
The two newspapers are in agreement with his medical, with that likely to happen next week. RMC say Sunday or Monday and that seems likely with Everton keen for a quick turnaround so they can get a replacement in before the August 8th transfer deadline.
For their part, Le Parisien say they have three replacements already lined up. They are Adrien Tamèze, Lucas Tousart, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and we covered that interest earlier in the week.
Either way, Gueye seems to be close to PSG at this point, and only something drastic is going to stop it happening.
