Another day, and more Hector Bellerin claims from the Spanish media. This is clearly going to be a theme between now and the summer transfer window, maybe beyond, and little extra bits are being added to each article.
In Mundo Deportivo’s Wednesday edition, the Catalan newspaper state that now is the ‘ideal time’ to take Bellerin back from Arsenal. That continues the Spanish media theme of Arsenal being in chaos right now, giving Barcelona a good opportunity to attack.
Mundo Deportivo say ‘the player and his entourage’ expect Barcelona to make a big effort to sign him. Personal terms could be ‘discussed later’, but it’s pointed out Bellerin is one of the highest earners at Arsenal.
There have already been talks via telephone, to find out the intentions of both Bellerin and Barcelona, and each party appears to be at the beginning of an elaborate mating dance.
Despite all of this, Mundo Deportivo reiterate that Arsene Wenger’s future could be crucial, with it being considered unlikely Bellerin will push to leave if the manager stays.
If Wenger goes, and Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League, then the perfect scenario for Barcelona presents itself.
Mundo Deportivo’s claim about personal terms being ‘discussed later’ doesn’t really sit well. Bellerin doesn’t seem so desperate for a Barcelona move that he’d take a big wage cut, and it’s surely something he and his representatives would want agreed at the very outset.
