Alianza Lima defender Kluiverth Aguilar has revealed his desperation to secure a move to Manchester City, insisting he wants to make the step to such a big club.
City have been linked with the 16-year-old right-back for several months, with reports first emerging that they were interested back in June of last year.
Since then there have been several updates on the situation, with Alianza Lima’s manager confirming there were talks with Manchester City over the youngster.
The last we heard on the transfer, the right-back was ‘close’ to making a move to the Eithad, although it now appears that is not the case.
“May this be given, with God’s favour,” Futbol Peruano report him saying in an interview on Instagram Live.
“I want to go; it would be great for my career because I want to get to a team of that magnitude. The truth is that I still have nothing closed with them.
“If it happens, the first thing I have to do is thank Alianza Lima for everything. At the moment, my father and my representative are seeing that.”
Even if Aguilar does get his move, it seems unlikely we’ll be seeing him in Manchester City colours any time soon.
It’s more likely he’ll end up at one of the other clubs in the City Group first, perhaps plying his trade out in Spain or MLS to prove he’s good enough for Pep Guardiola side.
