Former Crystal Palace forward Emmanuel Adebayor has told the Turkish media leaving Selhurst Park ‘hurt him the most’, despite having spells with the Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to Hurriyet, the 33 year old was asked about his time playing in England, including his brief spell with Crystal Palace: “I left some top clubs, but my Crystal Palace departure hurt me the most. Because I wanted to help them by scoring goals, but I didn’t manage it. So I was very upset.”
He added “After Crystal Palace I was left without a club for the six months. That six months worked wonders for me. I visited my family, my mates and my country. Now I’m a much more mature parson.”
Adebayor spent just six months at Crystal Palace, after joining the club on a free transfer. Previous to his move to the Eagles, Adebayor was playing for Tottenham, but had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
The Togo international scored just one goal whilst with Crystal Palace, and his contract wasn’t renewed at the end of the 2015/16 season.
The player is currently playing in Turkey with Medipol Basaksehir, after being released by Crystal Palace.
