Real Madrid should make a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, and there’s one man ready to tell Florentino Perez as much to his face.
That’s Hugo Orlando Gatti, who has backed the Aston Villa man to make the move to the Santiago Bernabeu if the situation should ever arise.
Martinez has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football over the last few years with a series of impressive performances for Aston Villa and Argentina.
He’s particularly shone on the international stage with La Albiceleste, shining in the Copa America to help them win that before then playing a key role in their eventual success in the World Cup in Qatar.
It’s seen his profile shoot through the roof, but he is yet to be really, seriously linked with a move from Aston Villa, where he appears to be more than happy as they rise under Unai Emery’s careful guidance.
There’s one club Gatti thinks he should end up at, though, and that’s Real Madrid, even if they are well covered with Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin between the sticks at this moment in time.
“If I were Florentino Pérez, I would take Dibu Martínez to the Real Madrid goal,” he said.
“I talk to him, but I have respect for him, not to tell him those things. If one day he asks me, of course I would tell him.”
