Marcos Rojo finally made his debut for Boca Juniors last night.
Following his free move from Manchester United at the start of January, the defender spent over a month recovering his fitness, and got a few minutes in the derby against River Plate on Sunday.
The 30-year-old was obviously approached by the local media after the game, and besides all the questions about his performance, he was also quizzed about Edinson Cavani.
With many rumours linking the Manchester United striker to Boca Juniors, some of those saying Rojo has been helping to get the move done, the defender now confirmed they’ve been in touch.
“I spoke to him. I played little with him. We were together for four or five months,” Rojo told TNT Sports.
“He’s a great professional and if he reaches Argentine football he would be a great star who would do Argentine football good.”
Since last week, when the rumours on Edinson Cavani’s future emerged in the South American media, there haven’t been many updates on the case.
While newspaper Olé insists that the player wants to move to Boca Juniors, many other outlets claim it’s more likely he’ll stay at Manchester United for at least one more season.
His contract with Manchester United expires next summer, with an option to be extended for one year further.
