Tottenham defender Eric Dier has shared his love for former club Sporting Club de Portugal during a recent visit to their training centre.
Record report today that Dier has taken advantage of his summer holidays to return to Portugal and his former club eight years after he departed them.
During the trip, he met old friends and coaches as well as giving a ‘short lecture’ to the U17s who are due to end their campaign in the coming days.
They are coached by José João, the man who also coached the Tottenham defender 19 years ago when he was making his way up Sporting’s ranks.
The trip was far from a ‘courtesy visit’ from the Tottenham man, who was keen to spend the day travelling around the academy in Alcochete and is now named after Cristiano Ronaldo, another famous product of the system.
The trip also saw him speak to the media, during which he was keen to share his continued love for the Portuguese side.
“I learned a lot of my principles here as a person and as a player,” Record report him saying.
“I learned from everyone, from the kitchen people to the coaches. Everyone has marked me in one way or another. I will always carry Sporting with me. I owe everything to this club.”
