The official accounts of Venezuela’s national team featured at the weekend an interview with Salomon Rondon, one of their main players for their upcoming challenges.
The Everton striker had a word with them about the arrival of their new manager, José Pekerman, and their preparations for the Copa America and the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
So when speaking of his plans for the future, Rondon pointed out the commitment he has with the Toffees, expecting that to help him with high standards to represent the national team as well.
“It never crossed my mind that a coach like Pékerman could lead us. All of this motivates you to keep working and commit,” said Rondon (via Bolavip).
“I’m in good shape physically and I’m ready to continue at the highest level. I have one more year on my contract with Everton but I want to continue competing, I want to continue being important.”
Rondon joined Everton on a free transfer from Chinese side DL Pro in the summer of 2021.
Featuring for the Toffees this season, he made 23 appearances, getting three goals and one assist.
Clearly not on top of Frank Lampard’s preferences for the first-team at Everton, the striker now must figure out his situation as he’d certainly get more playing time somewhere else, and keep a bigger level of competition to help Venezuela in the coming years.
