Earlier on Monday, we covered a report from Germany that the first offer from Bayern Munich had been made to Liverpool for Sadio Mané.
The Senegal international’s contract with the Reds expires in 2023, and with no renewal in sight for the forward, a move elsewhere makes the most sense.
Bild reported that the first offer had been from the Bavarians, which was said to be around €25m, but the expectation was that Liverpool would be pushing for a higher fee.
Well, that’s exactly what’s happening, according to Sport1 in Germany, who backup a report in England that the first bid was turned down before adding a bit more.
The outlet state that despite this rejection, ‘all parties expect an agreement to be reached soon’, mostly because Bayern ‘are planning to make an improved offer’.
The first offer, unlike what Bild said, was reported as £25m, being £21m up front and another £4m in bonuses, while the new move should be ‘a fixed transfer of €35m + €5m in possible bonus payments’ and ‘is currently being discussed’.
This amount, per the report, ‘would also meet the expectations of the English top club’.
