After recovering from a serious injury suffered in October 2019, Davide Zappacosta was in need of regular game time, which wasn’t made available to him at Chelsea.
The Blues allowed the right-back to join Genoa on a loan deal in September 2020.
He was used as both a right wing-back and left wing-back this season. The Chelsea owned player scored four goals and registered two assists in 25 league matches, which included 23 starts.
With the conclusion of the 2020/21 season, the Italy international will now return to Stamford Bridge, where he still has a contract until 2022.
Less than a week ago, we carried a report from Il Secolo XIX, who explained the 28-year-old’s form for Genoa has attracted interest from Inter Milan, Atalanta and AC Milan.
It was also explained Thomas Tuchel’s side are ‘asking around’ €10m for the fullback’s sale.
Calciomercato now state Inter are looking for a left wing-back in the market and Zappacosta, who already worked under Antonio Conte at the west London club, can be presented as a ‘low-cost solution’ for Inter this summer.
Zappacosta, for his part, is still unclear of where he will play next season. When asked about his future, the player said: “I have no idea.”
