Following the recent links between Brighton & Hove Albion and Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, the 23-year-old has himself spoken about his future.

The Italy international was interviewed by Dazn (via Calcio Mercato) and asked about the rumours which have been surrounding him.

Frattesi claimed he didn’t act correctly last year, when he seemed close to leaving Sassuolo, and that’s why he’ll try to do better this summer.

“I experience it differently than last year. After a year, one gets a little used to it. Now I move forward calmly,” said Frattesi.

“Maybe last year I was asking around, but it’s wrong because then you lose focus and risk making a fool of yourself like I did at the beginning of this year. I hadn’t coped well with that period and it showed on the pitch.”

It was on Monday morning that Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb spoke about Brighton’s interest in Frattesi. It was claimed that following a failed attempt in January, Seagulls’ boss Roberto De Zerbi ‘won’t let go’ of the player and will return for him in the summer window.

The Premier League side, however, should know that it continues to be difficult to sign the midfielder from Sassuolo. As club chief Giovanni Carnevalli spoke to the Italian media this week, he even claimed that they’re set to request €40m to let the player go at the end of the season. So Brighton better be prepared for this second attempt.
