For the past few weeks, various reports in France and Spain have named Liverpool as one of Aurélien Tchouaméni’s suitors, along with Real Madrid.
The midfielder is in demand following his stellar performances for AS Monaco this season. He is reportedly looking to leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer window.
Earlier this week, we carried a report from Foot Mercato, who explained the 22-year-old’s ‘priority’ is to join Liverpool. It was also stated the Reds are ‘ideally placed’ to secure the France international’s services.
Tchouaméni played alongside Cesc Fàbregas in the French club’s midfield last season. The 35-year-old, however, has found it hard to enjoy regular playing time and has announced his decision to leave Monaco after this term.
The former Arsenal star gave an interview to AFP and his comments are relayed by RMC Sport.
Fàbregas admits one of the reasons behind his decision to join Monaco in 2019 was to help with the development of the club’s young players. Tchouaméni is one of them and the Spaniard has dropped a hint on a possible move to Liverpool this summer.
“At the time, I signed with one objective: to save the team, then 19th with 13 points. I took a big risk because relegation was possible,” Fàbregas said.
“The first match, we draw in Marseille (1-1, 20th day). Then, I scored against Toulouse (2-1, 23rd day) the goal of a crucial victory for the rest of the season. We can be satisfied to have saved the team. I’m proud of what I brought in those six months.
“When I came, Thierry (Henry) and Vadim (Vasilyev) also asked me to help grow the young people. It was an important point. Today, I feel like I have won the respect of this younger generation. I hope I have helped. We like each other.”
“I will continue to follow them, exchange with them. I would like to see Fofana, Diop or Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool!”
