Caleb Ekuban is now a Trabzonspor player, at least for the rest of the current season.
Leeds United have loaned the striker to the Turkish club, with him being surplus to requirements under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.
Ekuban moved to the Championship last summer from Chievo Verona and signed a four year contract, but was unable to show enough to make Bielsa believe it’d be best to keep him around.
In 991 minutes in the league, the 24 year old only managed to find the back of the net once, and he hadn’t been involved so far this season.
Trabzonzpor provides an opportunity for the footballer to show what he can do at a reasonably high level.
After the loan move was completed, Ekuban spoke to the Turkish media, and Sabah quote the player as saying: “I know I made the right choice. I’m totally fit right now. I did my preseason, which will help. I cannot wait to play here.
“I’ve seen it again that I made the right choice. I had a bad season due to the injuries I experienced last year. Now I’m completely fit.”
Should Ekuban manage to impress in the Turkish Super Lig, then Trabzonspor have an option to sign him on a permanent transfer from Leeds United.
