Paul Pogba’s injury is a blow to Manchester United. After an up and down first season back at the club, Pogba has started the current campaign well, with a calmer confidence in his game and without the pressure to create something every time he touches the ball.
The Frenchman has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and as well as that being good news for Manchester United, it’s also positive for the French national set-up.
Didier Deschamps’ men haven’t yet qualified for the World Cup in Russia, but will expect to do so during the next international break.
Pogba was set to miss the first match anyway, against Bulgaria on October 7th, but will now also likely miss the October 10th against Belarus too.
L”Equipe quote Noël Le Graët, president of the French Football Federation, as saying: “Paul is a remarkable player, an indisputable holder. I hope he isn’t hurt as long as we imagine.”
Jose Mourinho will surely hope France have no intention to try and rush Pogba back for those October games, if he hasn’t already returned for Manchester United.
