Arsenal full-back Cedric Soares had today a word with the Portuguese media, speaking both about his time with the national team and now his return to the Gunners.

The 30-year-old first talked about how glad he is to take his country to the World Cup, and now back on focusing on his club, he comments on the Premier League campaign the Gunners have been having, especially regarding their objective to qualify for the Champions League.

“It’s important to believe in the idea of the club and the coach. We have achieved positive results and that is the path we want to continue,” the Arsenal defender told Sport TV (via O Jogo).

“We have to look at each game as a final. Then, at the end, we will have time to do these maths and see if we can achieve this objective, but it would be excellent.”

Cedric Soares has been playing in England since 2015, when he left Sporting to sign for Southampton on a €7m deal.

He even had a short spell in Italy in 2019, but soon returned to the Premier League, where he finally made the move to Arsenal in January 2020.

Looking back at all these years in English football, he now claims he’s been managing to adapt well there, and wants to continue working on it.

“I see the journey of my life here in England as one of the most important in my career. I’ve been playing in the Premier League for a few years now and I feel more and more adapted. There are no times when we can slow down. I have that mentality and I hope to continue to have it. I haven’t always had easy moments, but over time I’ve managed to assert myself more and more.”
