On January 25th, Manchester United allowed Antony to join Real Betis on loan until the end of this season.

At the weekend, the winger made his debut for the La Liga club in their 2-2 draw against Athletic and starred for them.

On Wednesday, Real Betis presented the Manchester United man and another new signing Cucho Hernández to the local media and ABC Sevilla have relayed Antony’s comments.

The Brazilian struggled for regular game time at Old Trafford and failed to impress when given opportunities. Antony claims his family are pleased that he was able to secure a temporary move to the Andalusian club.

“My family knows how I spent it and I’m happy to be here today. My wife, my girl, my boy. My first experience at Villamarín [against Athletic]? Yes, yes, I liked it,” he said.

The 24-year-old was expected to leave Manchester United on loan and received proposals from other clubs. However, he decided to join the La Liga club and explains his goals with Real Betis.

“Yes, I had proposals, but when Betis appeared, I felt a certainty in my heart that it was here,” Antony explained.

“I hope to achieve many goals and a thousand things. I feel very calm, confident, I’m very happy. I feel incredible, now I have to work every day to be at my best and play for the team.

“I had a difficult time, but we have to respect the process. My idea is to play everything and contribute with goals and assists, enjoy every day and help the team, the coach and everyone.”

Earlier claims from Spain, including from ABC Sevilla, stated Manuel Pellegrini had convinced Antony to join Real Betis. The South American reveals the chat he had with the manager helped him pick the Spanish club.

“I spoke to the coach, the conversation was very good. I was also very calm because of that, in training and in the match, I was very calm because the conversation was very good. He gave me a lot of confidence and everyone knows the experience he has,” he added.

Real Betis don’t have a purchase clause as part of the loan deal, meaning Antony has to return to Manchester United at the end of this season.
