Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares claims to be very happy with his spell at Marseille.
The player was this week interviewed by Quotidien du Sport, and talked about the good adaptation he’s had at the French side, thanking all those who helped him with it.
“Adjustment problems? Not particularly. If not the language, even if the coach speaks English and Italian. It’s easier for me,” Tavares told Quotidien du Sport (via Le 10 Sport).
“I feel great in my new team. I gained confidence from my first days thanks to the welcome of my teammates and the support of the fans. It was essential for me.”
“Whether on or off the pitch, I discovered an incredible and spectacular city. Playing in a stadium like the Vélodrome is unique. There is an extraordinary atmosphere with impressive supporters.”
Tavares’ departure from Arsenal was followed by a great start at Marseille, where he scored three goals in his first four league games.
However, his recent appearances didn’t get such a good reaction from the French media. His team had been unbeaten in Ligue 1 until a couple of weeks ago, and following the defeats to Ajaccio and Paris Saint Germain, we’ve seen the local press claiming he’s in bad form.
Tavares is happy, though, and seems eager to continue working hard for the French side. His contract at Arsenal runs until 2025, and only his spell at Marseille will tell whether he’s going back to the Gunners at the end of the loan.
