The Leeds United players on international duty are popular in their home country’s media, if only so they can be asked about Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentina coach has a worldwide following, and given his immediate and positive impact at Elland Road, his reputation is building even further.
With talk of the typical Bielsa extra training and players being asked to pick up rubbish, there’s been all kinds of questioning.
Pontus Jansson this week told the Swedish media he’s completely given up alcohol to put his all into the Bielsa regime, and that must be difficult for a man who probably enjoys a beer whilst watching his beloved Malmo.
All this leads to what happens on the pitch, and Ezgjan Alioski has been speaking about that to the Macedonian media.
Ekipa quote the Leeds United player as saying, when asked about the ‘great form’ of Leeds United: “It’s all thanks to the new coach of Leeds, the experienced Bielsa. He brought a lot of freshness into our team that was the same from last season, but I see a huge difference in the game, in the approach and in the output and in the results.
“Of course, such a coaching name also affects my game. I feel great and I believe that I will transfer the form to the national jersey for the match against Gibraltar.”
It’s probably the last thing Gibraltar wanted, a Bielsa fired-up Alioski going for them.
