Signed on loan with an option to buy from Burnley, Darko Churlinov is finding himself once again at Schalke 04, revealing as much to WAZ.

He already had good memories from a previous loan spell there when he was contracted to VfB Stuttgart before the Clarets bought him for €3.5m, and he’s delighted to be back and playing.

The North Macedonia international never managed to break through under Vincent Kompany at Burnley, and a serious illness also caused him to miss a lot of time.

Now, with all that behind him, he is back on the pitch and scoring, as he found the back of the net on his debut on January 26th and provided an assist in this weekend’s win over Wehen Wiesbaden.

Interviewed by WAZ about his return to Schalke, the Burnley loanee said: “I feel very good. It’s getting better every week. I can play longer and longer.”

The forward has now started the last three games for Schalke, who are trying their best to return to the Bundesliga, where many believe they belong.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be for this year, as they sit 14th after 22 games, a good 19 points from league leaders Sankt-Pauli.

Still, Burnley will simply be pleased to see their decision to allow him to leave on loan is working out, and will be hoping Schalke somehow find the money to make the move permanent.

Since signing for the Clarets, the 23-year-old has made a mere 13 appearances, failing to score or assist during that time.
