Tuesday’s Portuguese sport newspapers said it would be a big day with decisive developments on Bruno Fernandes, and they weren’t wrong.

Ok, Manchester United supporters could have done without the mini Buno-to-Barca saga in the middle, yet as evening came, and another day of the window was soon to be over… it arrived.

Ping, ping, ping. A growing avalanche of reports from Portugal that Manchester United and Sporting had agreed a deal for the midfielder’s transfer, and he’d be travelling to England on Wednesday.

Hurrah, it’s nearly over!

Wednesday’s edition of A Bola keeps it simple for their headline: ‘Bye, bye Bruno’

They say he travels today, and will sign a four and a half year contract worth €4.5m (likely after tax) per season.

A Bola add: ‘As we said yesterday, Tuesday would be absolutely decisive…

After several contacts made during the day, in late afternoon came white smoke, with the clubs smoking the pipe of peace’
The agreed fee is put at €55m plus €10m in achievable bonuses (appearances, CL qualification) and €15m in difficult bonuses (PL/CL title, Ballon d’Or).
Bruno will travel today with Miguel Pinho and Rui Guimarães from Positionumber agency.
Just like A Bola, Record have Bruno on their front page and are obviously hyping the impending transfer.
They largely echo what their Portuguese colleagues have said, and add that Sporting will get 10% of the profit from any future transfer.
Record say Bruno will visit Sporting’s training centre today, before then travelling to Manchester, having a medical, and signing his United contract.
O Jogo suggest the midfielder could debut against Wolves at the weekend.
A very happy looking Bruno was doorstepped by SIC last night and asked about his imminent transfer to Manchester United, he said: “I feel good, but it is not yet time for the last message to the fans of Sporting. The English League has always been my favourite.”
