Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall has been telling the Swedish media how injury problems have contributed to Spurs’ woes this season.
The 19-year-old has been one of the highlights for the Premier League side during their poor form.
Speaking ahead of his country’s upcoming friendlies against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland, the youngster was asked his thoughts on the current issues at Tottenham.
Bergvall believes Tottenham have been up against bad luck this season, and puts issues down to the number of players who have been missing.
The Swede highlighted some of his teammates have played a lot of games this season and this has been a factor in Tottenham’s failures.
“I don’t think it’s been a fair season to be honest. Not considering how much damage we have had. I don’t know what the reason is but as we have talked about with Dejan, there are many who have played an incredible number of minutes. It’s not human, so of course it’s a big factor,” said the Swede, as quoted by Aftonbladet.
Bergvall has benefited from the injury problems at Tottenham after initially starting the season as a squad player. Since arriving from Djurgårdens IF last summer the central midfielder has made 38 appearances for the London side.
His performances for Tottenham have helped him force himself into the Sweden squad and he will start his first game against Luxembourg, as confirmed by Jon Dahl Tomasson.
