Tanguy Ndombele was forced off midway through Tottenham’s difficult 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at the weekend.
The midfielder has since joined up with France’s national squad, and on Monday Didier Deschamps tried to calm worries over an injury issue, with it being reported the player had an adductor problem.
L’Equipe quoted Deschamps as saying: “It’s not very bad, he has a little worry that should be resolved within 48 hours. If I had uncertainty, I would have made the decision (to call someone else up), but that’s not the case.”
On Tuesday afternoon, the player himself spoke about the problem and whilst it still seems there’s nothing serious, Ndombele’s comments appeared to contradict the idea everything would be ok within 48 hours of Monday.
L’Equipe quote the Spurs player as saying: “I had tests that said there was nothing serious, it was more fatigue. What is certain is that I am fit for Sunday. Thursday may be a little early, I don’t think I’ll be 100%.”
France face Moldova on Thursday before another match against Albania on Sunday. Given they shouldn’t be the most difficult matches for Deschamps’ side, Mauricio Pochettino will certainly expect every care to be given to his player, and no risks to be taken.
Tottenham face West Ham on November 23rd.
