“I don’t know, we’ll see”.

Those were the words of Urbano Cairo on Tuesday night during the Gazzetta Awards when he was directly asked if Gleison Bremer could leave in January.

With multiple Premier League clubs after the Brazilian, including West Ham United, this could come as a boost for all interested parties.

The Hammers are currently in the middle of a defensive crisis, having lost both Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma to injuries, and David Moyes is likely to spend in the January transfer window to bolster his squad and add much needed depth to his defence.

Whether they go for Bremer remains to be seen, but the Brazilian is out of contract in 2023 and has yet to sign a renewal with Torino.

Torino Granata look at the situation on Wednesday, suggesting that Cairo’s words could mean that if a club ‘make the offer that he deems appropriate, he will deprive his manager of the player’, and name West Ham as an interested party.

What that fee would be isn’t explained, but previous reports have suggested somewhere around the €20-25m mark could do the trick.

It’s expensive, but there’s still a lot of potential there as Bremer is still only 24, and he would be an investment for the future rather than simply a panic buy.

We’ll have to wait and see, but he’s already been named as one of three Serie A players West Ham could target, and now they could have a serious chance at getting him.
