Manchester United might take ‘a crack’ at Hakim Ziyech this summer, even if Chelsea are unlikely to do a deal.
That’s according to journalists Nordin ‘t Hart and Ruben Winkels, who can see Erik ten Hag being keen on his former player.
Ziyech has been linked with a move away from Chelsea again this summer after another disappointing season in which he struggled to establish himself under Thomas Tuchel.
A move out of the Premier League, namely to AC Milan, has been mooted for much of the summer but Manchester United have recently been named as a possible destination.
That’s because of the link to Ten Hag, who Ziyech starred under at Ajax, managing 35 goals and 53 assists in 100 appearances before his move to Stamford Bridge.
He’s not managed numbers like that under any other coach and both journalists can see Manchester United making a bid.
“At United, there is a lack of creativity and Ziyech is a player who can bring that. Besides, Sancho and Rashford don’t get past their man on the flanks,” ‘t Hart told Voetbal Primeur.
Whether Ziyech does end up at Manchester United remains to be seen, with it currently looking very unlikely that he will remain at Chelsea this summer.
He is unlikely to be short of suitors should an Old Trafford move not take place given the numbers he racked up at Ajax, while he’s also shown flashes of his talent at Stamford Bridge as well.
Italy has already been mooted as an option, while he would also fit in well in La Liga also, but both journalists believe he should avoid another top club.
“It’s speculation, but maybe a Spanish club would be a nice option for him,” added Winkels.
“It’s a question of whether he wants it, but a club just below the top like Sevilla…. If Ziyech bets on a real top club, he will probably become the twelfth or thirteenth man again.
“Actually Ziyech falls a bit between two stools,” concluded ‘t Hart.
