Haberturk journalist Serdar Ali Celikler has claimed Liverpool have made a €25m offer for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
The Premier League leaders have been linked with the youngster in recent months, along with other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.
Celikler said on VOLE’s Youtube channel that the Merseyside club have contacted Trabzonspor and are ready to pay €25m to sign the Turkish goalkeeper: “I’ve made some calls with my Trabzonspor sources. I can confirm that Liverpool have made a bid for Ugurcan Cakir, which is worth €25m.”
Speaking about Liverpool’s interest, another commentator on the programme, NTV’s Ali Ece, said he’s certain that Cakir doesn’t want to move to a club where he will be the second choice: “Ugurcan has two main preferences. First, he wants Trabzonspor to receive a significant amount of money from his sale, and the second is that he would like to move to a club where he will be the first-choice goalkeeper.”
Ece also outlined Liverpool’s plans if they sign Cakir. According to him, Liverpool are planning to send him on loan for two years at another European club to make sure his development isn’t halted.
Trabzonspor’s 24 year old goalkeeper has been in excellent form for his club this season, and he’s one of the main reasons Karadeniz Firtinasi are leading the Turkish Super Lig.
His contract with Trabzonspor will expire at the end of June 2024.
