Armenia goalkeeper Ognjen Čančarević has told Germanijak that Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perišić ‘knows’ about the reports linking him with a move to Hajduk Split.
On Monday, Croatia sealed a 1-0 win over Armenia in the European qualifiers, and both the FC Alashkert stopper and the 34-year-old played the full 90 minutes for their respective countries.
Čančarević recently appeared as a guest on the Dribler podcast, where one of the hosts, Nemanja Nešić, who is a Hajduk Split fan, asked him to pass on the message to the Tottenham player that “it’s time” to return to the Croatian club.
After Monday’s tie, Germanijak asked the Armenia goalkeeper whether he had passed on Nešić’s message to Perišić.
Responding to that, he said: “I approached him after the match and said that they told me to tell you something…”
When asked about Perišić’s response, Čančarević further explained that the Tottenham attacker told him that “I know, I read it” about Hajduk Split’s reported interest.
The former Inter Milan man spent six years between, 2000 and 2006, at the Croatian club’s academy.
Perišić’s contract at Spurs runs until 2024, and last Friday, Sport Klub reported he could join Hajduk Split in January after they considered a late move this summer.
After Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Tottenham, Perišić has been restricted to a substitute role, clocking in 159 minutes from five matches this season.
