Jhon Duran’s growing importance and star status at Aston Villa has seen plenty of former coaches being asked about him in recent weeks, and today is no different.
Today it is the turn of Gol Caracol, who have spoken to his trainer at Envigado, who has revealed a funny anecdote regarding the striker’s laid-back attitude.
Professor Wilberth Perea, a key player in the striker’s growth at the Colombian club, has been speaking about the Aston Villa star and his early days in his homeland.
Duran started his career with Envigado in Colombia before moving to America with Chicago in January 2022 in a deal worth €1.7m.
He only stayed there for a year before he headed to Aston Villa in a €16.64m deal the following year, at which point his career really took off.
He’s not looked back since, establishing himself as a super-sub under Unai Emery with a series of impressive performances from the bench that have everyone thrilled about the 20-year-old’s future.
His performances on the pitch and his laid-back attitude have earned him plenty of fans, although the latter was something that did once get him in to trouble with his former coach.
“Jhon was having difficulties at school, and it was my turn to go apply for permission,” he said when asked about any ‘stories or anecdotes’ about his former player.
“When I arrived at the goal, the first thing the academic coordinator told me, when authorizing my entry, was: “Professor, if you find him in the classroom, I will give you permission for the rest of the year.”
“I was very happy and entered, but it turned out that John Jáder was not in the room. I left very angry towards his house, which he lived nearby, and the man was relaxed, lying on a chair, shirtless, listening to reggaeton music.
“That day I almost grabbed him by the ears. “I scolded him for about 30 minutes, saying many things.”
