Hull City are showing interest in Śląsk Wrocław youngster Karol Borys, joining a long list of European suitors looking at the 17-year-old.
That’s according to TVP Sport in Poland, who say the youngster is ‘already attracting interest’ from around Europe despite not yet establishing himself in the first team set up.
They explain that Borys is ‘considered one of the greatest talents’ in Poland, having been named as one of their ‘greatest hopes’ and even put on The Guardian’s list of 60 great talents born in 2006.
He’s already the leader of Poland’s U17 national team, who he led to the semi-finals of the European Championships and to the Junior World Cup in Indonesia.
He’s not yet made his mark in senior football but that’s not stopped the interest in him growing, with Tomasz Włodarczyk from the Meczyki.pl recently reporting Fiorentina are keen.
TVP report that they’re not the only ones, though, and other foreign clubs are interested in the 17-year-old thanks to his agents.
He joined the Dutch agency Sports Entertainment Group on January 8th. They have big names such as Cody Gakpo, Rasmus Hojlund and Donyell Malen on their books as well as Erik ten Hag, Mark van Bommel and Jon Dahl Tomasson.
That’s naturally led to interest in the Eredivisie, with Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord all showing an interest in him and scouting him at various points.
They’re not the only ones, though, with Borys having ‘caught the eye’ of those in charge at Hull City in recent weeks as well. They have a link to Poland via Kamil Grosicki and the outlet reports that the Tigers were ‘supposed’ to submit an offer worth several hundred thousands of euros.
TVP say Hull’s interest ‘should be treated as a curiosity’ for now, particularly as changes in transfer regulations post Brexit have made signing Polish players ‘much more difficult’.
As of today, Borys would not have enough points to be registered in England so if Hull were to sign him, he would have to be loaned out somewhere else first.
Thus, a transfer is seen as unlikely at this moment in time, but the Tigers are in the mix, nonetheless.
