It seems that Hull City are pretty strong in the chase for Fenerbahce’s Gregory van der Wiel. According to the latest reports from today, the club have shown they have the ‘most resources’ to sign the right-back.
As Sporting CP are said to be in the race, the Portuguese media have been following it closely. And even though they give more attention to the Lions’ negotiations, they just can’t forget the Hull competition.
Sporting can’t afford a permanent transfer right now, so according to A Bola, the club are currently working on a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.
But the club’s biggest difficulties in this process are the player’s wages and the competition from Hull City, who are said to have enough money to buy him now.
That’s why Sporting would be counting on their Dutch players to convince Van der Wiel to go to Lisbon. The player is said to be unhappy at Fenerbahce and a move out of the club is very likely.
Figures are still not mentioned by the Portuguese press. The player signed for Fenerbahce from PSG last summer on a free deal.
