Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is an ‘alternative’ target for Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The La Liga winners have made Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez, who has €111m release clause valid until July 15th, their priority target.
However, Quique Setién’s side are currently unable to pay that amount.
The proposal of €70m plus Junior Firpo ‘has not evolved’, and with Barca short of funds, the operation to sign Martínez has been delayed.
Should Antonio Conte’s side raise their demands for the 22-year-old, the Spanish giants could then ‘activate Plan B’.
The Arsenal forward is viewed a backup target for Barca and the 31-year-old would be a ‘cheaper option’ than Martínez, because he has a year left on his contract at the Emirates.
According to the report, the possibility of representing the Blaugrana is a ‘huge temptation’ for Aubameyang and therefore, he would be willing to leave the north London club this summer.
Mundo further adds Barca ‘like’ the Arsenal player ‘a lot’ and they would have already probed with Aubameyang’s entourage, as he remains an ‘option’ for them.
The former Borussia Dortmund man ‘does not lose hope’ of signing for Barcelona, because he’s aware the operation to bring Martínez to the Camp Nou isn’t easy.
