Friday’s edition of L’Equipe has a big feature on the transfer situation for Ligue 1 clubs.
First up, and to the surprise of nobody, is PSG.
The league leaders had wanted to complete some permanent exits this summer and bring some funds in. They want to raise €100-150m between now and next summer, and haven’t got off to a good start, with loans and free exits being the only business done so far.
That seriously hinders PSG when it comes to incoming transfers, and makes it difficult to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur.
L’Equipe say that due to the ‘sluggishness’ with sales, PSG ‘cannot recruit’. ‘The more the days pass’ the less likely it is Ndombele will arrive from Spurs, even on a loan deal.
His wages, put at €200k a week by L’Equipe, put a ‘huge break’ on the transfer, but that isn’t the only issue.
Internal voices at the Paris club have worries over the Tottenham player’s ‘state of mind’ and there’s a feeling he’s potentially too similar to Paul Pogba, who could arrive on a free from Manchester United in the summer.
