With Juventus given every incentive to play Carlos Alcaraz as much as possible during his loan spell from Southampton to reduce costs, the Serie A side have been dealt something of a blow.
The news comes from the club themselves, who, relayed by Tuttosport, have revealed the Argentine is now sidelined with an injury.
They explain the Southampton loanee injured himself during a training session on Wednesday, as he suffers a ‘muscular problem in his right thigh’.
The midfielder underwent some tests on Thursday morning to try and work out the severity of the damage, with it now diagnosed as a hamstring issue.
It’s explained the Southampton man will be re-evaluated in 10-15 days to define the ‘exact recovery time’, meaning he could be out for longer.
Since Alcaraz only had a short amount of time to convince Juventus to somehow spend €49.5m on him to make the move permanent, this setback means he will have even fewer opportunities.
We now have to wait and see how long he is out for, as anything longer than the 10-15 days mentioned there could see him miss out on any slither of hope he might have had of staying in Turin beyond the current season.
