Manchester United will have to pay ‘a huge amount’ for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero if they want him this summer.
That’s according to Atalanta chief Antonio Percassi, who has sent a warning to the Premier League side over the Argentine centre-back.
Romero has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United over the last few months, with it believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is targeting a centre-back this summer.
The rumour has picked up over the last few days, with one report yesterday stating that they have ‘accelerated’ their efforts to get him, and a €40m+ deal could be on the cards.
That has since been pulled back today, with it reported that Manchester United have pulled back because of the cost and instead turned their attention elsewhere.
Whether they do end up making a move remains to be seen, but if they do, Percassi has warned them they will need to pay a top price to get a deal over the line.
“Romero is a very important player, very strong, who I love,” he told L’eco di Bergamo, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb.
“And today, he belongs to Atalanta. Point. How much is he worth? A huge amount.”
