Gazzetta dello Sport report it’s ‘hot hours’ for the future of Olivier Giroud, with a move to Inter Milan thought to be closing in for the striker.
Having moved on to other possibilities, the Serie A club switched back to the Chelsea man last week, and it’s stated ‘agreement was reached’ for an Inter contract.
Gazzetta report Giroud had initially been looking for a contract lasting until June 2022, however, he’s compromised and agreed on a deal until 2021.
An offer of €5m, which includes bonuses, is said to have ‘almost convinced’ Chelsea.
Despite all of that, a move isn’t thought imminent because Inter need to sell Matteo Politano. They’ve got an overbooking of forwards, especially considering Alexis Sanchez is on the way back, and as well as the help with finances they need room in the squad.
Giroud is considered a ‘luxury’ deputy for Romelu Lukaku, and it’s not thought the Chelsea man will be first choice.
To make the transfer worthwhile, the Frenchman will need to be getting significantly more minutes than he has been at Chelsea, otherwise there’s not a lot of point.
