Idrissa Gueye’s dream of a move to PSG during the current transfer window looks to be slipping away, largely due to time being in short supply.
For weeks the media close to the French club have been reporting on PSG’s efforts to sign the Everton midfielder, and that continues into deadline day.
L’Equipe say the player has been encouraged to agitate to try and pressure the Premier League club into selling him, but so far it hasn’t had the desired result.
There’s been claims from France of Everton being firm, and asking for similar to what PSG paid Zenit for Leandro Paredes, which seems reasonable given the Argentine wasn’t exactly a runaway success in Russia.
The player’s entourage told L’Equipe that it’s ‘difficult to imagine’ Everton accepting less than €35m at this stage, which again seems reasonable for an important player in the January window.
Le Parisien say there’s hope Everton will ‘crumble’ on deadline, due to Gueye’s desire to make the move, and perhaps if PSG formulate another offer.
PSG have a ‘mystery’ target should the Gueye track continue to be blocked, which could be Lille’s Thiago Mendes.
