Part of the Sevilla team that advanced to the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday, Bryan Gil is enjoying life in Spain, as he made clear to Estadio Deportivo.

The Tottenham loanee clearly made the right choice for his career in January, as Spurs have mostly imploded after he left, having sacked Antonio Conte and seen Fabio Paratici resign from his job due to a ban on him conducting his professional activities.

The problem for Gil in all this is that his loan to Sevilla, the club where he first made a real name for himself, doesn’t include an option to buy.

This means he needs to return to Tottenham at the end of the campaign, where Conte’s successor, whoever that might be, will decide whether he wants to work with the winger or not.

However, for Gil himself, it seems he would rather stay where he currently is, perhaps even hinting he regrets leaving Seville for Tottenham in 2021.

Speaking to Estadio Deportivo about his loan choices since moving to Spurs, he said: “Whenever I have left Tottenham, it has been to look for minutes and to feel comfortable, to feel important. Here I am, having all that. I feel very comfortable and it’s my home. Right now, I can’t think about the future, and besides, that doesn’t depend on me.”
