Aston Villa have been told they may need as much as €80m to sign Samu Chukwueze from Villarreal this summer, with the forward among three signings being eyed by Unai Emery.

That’s according to Fichajes, who report that Aston Villa want to back the Spanish coach in the next market after his excellent work at Villa Park so far.

They explain that Aston Villa are ‘delighted’ by the significant improvement under Emery since his arrival at the club.

They therefore intend to ‘make a million-dollar market’ so they can continue their upward trend and compete at the top of the table as well as in Europe.

English reports have stated that Kyle Walker, Emile Smith Rowe and Samu Chukwueze are three players that Emery wants to sign to bolster his squad.

Fichajes picked up on that and say that, in terms of Chukwueze, he would be the ‘ideal profile’ for Aston Villa as he is an ‘old acquaintance’ of Emery’s from his time at Villarreal.

He’s enjoying an impressive season with the Yellow Submarine, which has led to him being targeted by several clubs this summer, and a departure ‘seems to be imminent’.

His current deal expires in 2024 so a sale is necessary this year if Villarreal are to avoid losing him on a free, but the Spanish side would still only let him leave if his €80m release clause is met.

Whether that’s a figure Villa will be willing to pay isn’t mentioned, just that he’s on their list and the ‘ideal profile’ for Emery to try and sign at the end of the season.
