Earlier today, we covered the news from Brazil saying Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz is set to have his first start for the national team.
They’re playing Bolivia for the World Cup Qualifiers tonight, and following the absence of Juventus’ Arthur, the Villans player won a place in the team.
A lot has been said about Douglas Luiz in the past few days, since he’s been showing some great form in the Premier League, and Aston Villa’s win over Liverpool was covered worldwide.
Now with him getting a place in the national team, even the captain was asked about the news.
Real Madrid star Casemiro spoke to the local press today, and talked about his new midfield partner.
“The adaptation period for the game is short, Douglas will play, it will be the first game I play with him and of course he needs time to adapt, but a high level player can understand by looks”, said Casemiro (via Globo Esporte).
Douglas Luiz only has ten minutes for the national team so far, as he featured in a friendly against South Korea last year. This week, he impressed the coaching staff, and won the place which was being disputed against Lyon’s Bruno Guimarães.
Following the match against Bolivia tonight, Brazil face Peru on Tuesday.
