It seems to be a tradition between footballers not to be very attracted by Manchester. Weather and food are common complaints, but the majority of footballers who do move find all they need.
Former Manchester City striker John Guidetti has advised Victor Lindelof on his eating options, should the defender move to Manchester United this summer.
Now at Celta de Vigo, Guidetti was interviewed by Swedish outlet VLT this week. And as his long time friend Victor Lindelof has been linked with an Old Trafford move, they asked Guidetti if he had any suggestions for the Benfica player.
“Go and eat at Nando’s, San Carlo and Wing’s. Those are three good restaurants if he moves there. Apart from that, I can only say that he will have a great career no matter what happens.”
“He’s a super guy. During our holidays we usually spend time relaxing, laughing and having fun. He is so humble and has his feet on the ground all the time.”
He also claimed Lindelof will become something big in the next few years, Manchester United move or not: “I think he’ll be a world class defender, just as everyone believes. It will be great fun to see when he takes the next step and I wish him all the best. I am looking forward to playing with him in the national team for many years.”
Currently with a €60m release clause, Lindelof has recently renewed his contract with Benfica. The Portuguese press expect Manchester United to make an approach for Lindelof in the summer transfer window.
Just one thing. Manchester may not be the culinary capital of the world, but it’s got a lot better to offer than Nando’s, John.
