With so many claims on the future of Manchester United star Edinson Cavani, it’s been hard to keep up with this little saga.
It all started with bold claims from Argentina saying the player would leave the Red Devils in the summer and then join Boca Juniors.
His father said there was a 60% chance of that happening, as the player wouldn’t move back to Uruguay, since he’d had no chance to win big things there.
Despite that, Cavani was linked to his former club Danubio last week. And now, there’s another club from his home country who are said to have a chance to land him.
Nacional legend Ruben Sosa has been speaking to the Uruguayan media at the weekend, and said that Cavani is a fan of the club, claiming there are chances for the striker to join the Montevideo side soon.
“I’ve spoken with Cavani, we always send each other messages by phone. I’m closer to Cavani, who I think wants to come to Nacional,” Ruben Sosa told Polideportivo (via TNT Sports).
“He has more desire than Suárez. Suárez wants but the family may stop him. Cavani, his will is to come to Nacional and he’ll be welcome.”
TyC Sports also recalls some quotes from Cavani in which the player admitted that he was a Nacional supporter in an interview with Conmebol.
“My father and my brother were from Peñarol, so I wanted to be from Nacional because in the derby we couldn’t be from the same team.”
Edinson Cavani’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season, and includes an option to be extended for one more year. The striker is still to speak out on the many rumours linking him with a return to South America.
